by gwg 1 year agoI just read your comment about Lhakpa Rita Sherpa. He was the high camp guide for my trip to Aconcagua in December, 2007. On that trip, we were camped at 20,800' and had just returned from summiting. We passed 2 climbers on the our way down who were about half way up the Canaletta. Late in the afternoon, one of these climbers comes into our camp and states that his partner is at the foot of the canaletta and can't go any further. In a matter of minutes, Lhakpa and our head guide were leaving to go assist in the rescue. A couple of hours later, they bring him down.
Lhakpa Rita Sherpa is a master on the mountain and is recognized as such. Who knows the number of people who have been helped by this man. -
by TJ 1 year agoHi Amy. Yes, headed off to Aconcaqua on January 9. No Denali redo this year. Will definitely go back, but probably in a couple seasons. Vinson, Carstensz, Cho Oyu and Ecuador on the slate before Denali again. Good luck with the Highpoints. That looks like it can keep you busy!! Best, Tom

by Gerard 1 year agoHi Amy , all good here! Training for Mt Cook in theory! 2 Japanese climbers have been up on the Mt Cook summit ridge in 130kph winds for the last 5 days, so might be rescued this weekend! I am due to head down there on the 12th Dec.
